Chapter 12
Karen anticipated meeting Leo in the restaurant. She needed him to be understanding, she only hoped he did understand and not turn away when she needed him most. Her relationship with Daniel was the best thing that ever happened in her life. She looked down at the ring and it had meant a whole lot to her. In the car, she had felt a little sick. She knew she was hungry again. When April stopped, Daniel got out of the backseat and helped Karen out.
Karen saw the restaurant it was her favorite place to go to. Upon arriving at the entrance, Daniel opened the door and held it open for Karen and her sister. April had been there with Karen before, she loved the place just as much as Karen did. When they entered Karen asked for a private booth non-smoking, of course. They sat down and waited for their seats.
"Daniel?" Karen looked toward him.
"Hey Karen, what's wrong?" He looked at her concerned.
"I just wanted to tell you that, I would be honored to be the mother of your first born." Karen said.
"I am honored to be the father of our child, Karen." He hugged her and brought her close.
When they called them to their seats, April patted Karen on the knee. Karen looked up at April and went walking with her, with Daniel right behind her.
As they walked to their private booth Karen sat with Daniel, she held his hand. Never in her life had she felt totally in love. April loved how caring Daniel was to her sister. She hoped that in time she would meet the right man for her too.
Leo arrived quicker than he expected. He had expected they had some unfinished business to attend to or else why would she want to meet him alone. The waitress asked if he had a reservation. He looked at her and said, "I am with Karen Archer, is she here yet."
"Oh yes, Ms. Archer. Follow me." She went to the back where she had put Karen and her party in the private booth.
Leonardo was surprised to see Karen, Daniel and another girl sitting down waiting for him. He took the empty seat next to Karen's sister. April was just mesmerized by Leo's appearance, he was drop dead gorgeous. April smiled thinking she would love to get her hands on him.
"Hello, Leo. I thought we could all have lunch together. We have some news for you." Karen said straight forward.
"I thought we were having a business lunch?" He looked at her and wondered what was going on.
"This is business. First, I would like to introduce you to my sister, April. Who you are sitting next to." Karen gestured to April.
He looked at April, she was a nice looking gorgeous girl. He could see where the Archer's had gotten their beauty it must have been there mother.
"Nice to meet you, April." He shook her hand.
"Likewise." She touched his hand it was almost as if she knew he was hers.
There was a moment when Karen saw April with that glow, the glow that told her she was in love. Karen smiled to April, she knew exactly what she was thinking.
"Leo, like I said I have some news for you." Karen held onto Daniel hand, it gave her strength to tell Leo what she had to tell him.
He waited he had no idea what she wanted to tell him.
"Leo, I am pregnant. You or Daniel are going to be a father." She leaned back.
"Wait this is a game right?" He waited for her to tell him.
"No, I went to the doctor this morning it was confirmed. Daniel and April were with me." She looked at him again.
"It can't be mine. It has to be Daniel's." He told her.
"But Leo I slept with you. We had sex twice that night and the following day." She told him.
"Wait, I thought you said you didn't remember that night." He looked at her.
"I didn't." She wondered if she had said something wrong.
"Karen, can we talk in private." He asked her.
"Sure." She got up and followed him.
He went to his car and they both sat inside and he turned on the car and put on the air conditioning. He turned to her. "I'll tell you what happened that night. Cause you don't remember. But I swear this child your carrying can not be mine."
He looked around and then starred at her. "Karen that night when I came to you. I hadn't expected to make love to you. I just wanted to make it clear that I left for both of us. But when I came to you, you kissed me and started pulling at my clothes. I knew then, what you had wanted. So when we got to the bed, you told me to make love to you. I always carry protection with me, so I used a condom the first and second time I made love to you. In the morning, when I woke up. I needed a shower so I took one. When I came back to bed with you, I thought you had remembered everything so I kissed you."
"Now I realize that when we made love the third time that we used no protection and I know that I finished inside you. But one time, now really what are the chances." He asked her.
"Apparently good cause I am pregnant. I am having this child, whether it is yours or Daniel's." She told him the truth.
"When this child is born, I hope you will come forward for a dna test. Just to see who's baby this really is. If it proves it is not yours then your free to do what you would like with your life." She didn't love him she knew it now.
"Of course, Karen no matter if this child is not mine, I will come forward maybe not as a father, but as a caring friend." He wanted to say more, but left it as just that.
"Shall we have lunch now?" She asked him.
"Sure." He turned off the car and they went back inside and went to the booth where Daniel and April where waiting for them.
